I was born and raised in Portland, Maine, and now call Missoula home after years of traveling the west.

The combination of environmental contracting and construction may seem disparate, but running the duel services is a perfect combination. Seasonal, contract based, requiring hard work and boots on the ground, attention to detail, and immaculate record keeping, the two industries compliment one another well and allow for an excellent balance in quality of life.

With a BA from Colorado College in statistical economics and environmental politics, and a MS from the University of Montana in Environmental Sciences, I can offer a rich interdisciplinary background to any project. In the the environmental world, I’ve spearheaded citizen science programs, run forestry management programs with dozens under my supervision, maintained long term stream/river monitoring and evaluation programs, collected data under scrutiny for judicial proceedings, and presented as a researcher for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Whether you’re conducting the simplest mapping exercise, or managing complex scientific programs, Dexter Consulting can provide the needed capacity! For almost a decade I’ve assisted on a wide array of projects, and look forward to working with you (find out more here).

While the rigors of field work and scientific data management fulfill much of my professional time, I might as well have been born with a drill in my hand. As a mason’s apprentice growing up, and seasonal carpenter throughout my time in academia, I haven’t been able to kick the satisfaction of working with my hands. Over the last 5 years, with my business partner, I’ve built a small but strong contracting client base, with many repeat clients. With a penchant for professionalism, transparency, and efficiency not often found in the contracting world, I pride Dexter Consulting’s work keeping homes safe and looking great in the Missoula community. If your home or structures need repair, or you’re finally pulling the trigger on that exciting remodel or paint job, I guarantee you’ll enjoy working with us!

In my free time, I can be found out rock climbing, back country skiing, playing guitar loud and enthusiastically, gardening, or cranking around the woods with the infamously rambunctious pup Juniper.

Juniper

Field Tech & Foreman

Juniper’s 4 rules of conduct: look good, feel good, look good, safety. Here she is practicing the fourth!

Probably the brains (…and heart….and muscle…) of the operation. Juniper has more ecology field days under her belt than many seasoned scientists, and she’s pulled more 2x4 scraps out of a kitchen remodel/demolition than humans three times her size.

Juniper is known to woo construction clients with her job site charm, and she is an enduring presence in the woods of Montana for many local ecologists and organizations!
